Tripods #2: The City Of Gold And Lead by John Christopher
All the action and excitement of a 1960s sci-fi short story … in 200 pages. It’s hard to judge a children’s novel too harshly for adult enjoyment, but this series continues to ride the line of being just not quite boring enough to give up on. It feels exactly like I’m reading a boys’ adventure novel from the 60s, nothing more, nothing less.
Will, Beanpole, and Henry have managed to escape the Tripods. But instead of living in safety, in the small community of free people, they have chosen to embark upon a mission that may cost them their lives.
